Bread making day
It has always been a tradition for the Joyce family to have a bread making day! This tradition has Joyce Family roots that go way back. My great-great grandparents Florence and George Joyce operated a bakery out of their home in Oswego, NY. We enjoy carrying on our love of baking.
Over February break, we usually make cookies or brownies but now, for the past 5 years, we have made it a tradition to make a huge batch of bread! We make About 4 loaves of bread, rolls, and a batch of cinnamon rolls. This year we even fried dough! I am not a huge bread person overall but when it comes to homemade bread it is the best! We sent some over to my Great-Grandpa (who has made bread sooooo many times). He told us it was the best he had ever had! My brother’s all-time favorite food is bread (ice cream is a close second favorite). My mom told Ethan we had made so much bread that we would probably be sick of it by the end of the day and he said “Nope, bread is the greatest food on the planet!”
My favorite part of bread making day is frying dough! My Goodness! It turned out so amazing! If you know me, you know how I love my junk food. The cinnamon roll for breakfast I had this morning was pretty fantastic, too.
I really think you all should try to make bread! Now I’m not going to lie- it takes a lot of time. Believe me it’s not like whipping up a batch of chocolate chip cookies. Bread makes you to devote a day before you can enjoy it. I think that’s one of the reasons why we make it over a long break!
Remember Always try something new because you might just like it! I really am trying to go with this motto, too. I like doing new things but trying new foods is not my favorite but I am really working on it, though!
